Let cost price (c.p) = Rs x ,

case 1:

 profit (g) = 12.5 /%

 selling \: price (s.p _{1} ) = c.p\left( \frac{100+g}{100}\right)\\= x\left(\frac{100+12.5}{100}\right)\\= \frac{1125}{1000}x \: ---(1)

case 2:

 Loss (l) = 12.5 /%

 selling \: price (s.p _{2} ) = c.p\left( \frac{100-l}{100}\right)\\= x\left(\frac{100-12.5}{100}\right)\\= \frac{875}{1000}x \: ---(2)

/* According to the problem given

 \frac{1125}{1000}x - \frac{875}{1000}x = 13

 \implies \frac{1125-875}{1000} = 13

\implies \frac{250x}{1000} = 13

\implies \frac{x}{4} = 13

 \implies x = 13 \times 4 = 52

Therefore.,

\red { cost \: price \: of \: the \: article } \green { =Rs \:  52 }
