Given:

A particle is undergoing uniform circular motion.

To find:

To find out the wrong statement among the following :

a) The velocity vector is tangential to the circle

b) The acceleration vector is tangential to the circle

c) The acceleration vector is directed towards the center of the circle

d) The velocity and acceleration vectors are perpendicular to each other.

Solution:

Uniform Circular Motion is a type of circular motion in which an object revolves in a circular trajectory with uniform speed.

In this type of motion , the object has constant magnitude of velocity vector. Only the direction of the velocity vector changes instantaneously. But at every instant the velocity vector is tangential to the trajectory.

The main acceleration in UCM is centripetal acceleration which is directed radially inwards and perpendicular to the velocity vector at every instant.

Considering the above points:

The wrong statement is b)
