Step-by-step explanation:

let PA=15cm

PO=17cm

OA is the radius of circle

PA is the tangent

OA perpendicular to the tangent

so PAO is a right angle triangle

By Pythagoras theorem

OA^2+PA^2 = PO^2

OA^2 + 225=289

OA^2=64

OA=8

radius=8cm

The radius of the circle is 8 centimetre.

Given;

distance from the centre of the circle = 17cm

Length of tangent to that point = 15cm

Radius = ?

Let the radius of the circle be taken as "x" cm

We know that all the tangents are perpendicular to its radius at the point of contact.( ie,theorem)

Therefore , by using Pythagoras theorem we have,

» 17^2 - 15^2 = x^2

» 289 - 225 = x^2

» 64 = x^2

» x = 8cm

The radius of the circle is 8 centimetre
