Q. A porter lifta a luggage of 15kg from the ground and puta it on his head 1.5m above the ground. Calculate the work done by jim on the luggage.

  • Mass(m) = 15kg

  • Height(h) = 1.5m

  • Acceleration due to gravity(g) = 10m/s

To find -

  • Work done by jim.

Solution -

Here, the form of energy is potential energy, so we will take the formula of potential energy, to solve the above question.

Work done = Potential energy (PE)

Now,

Potential energy = mgh

where,

m = mass

g = acceleration due to gravity

h = Height

On substituting the values -

PE = mgh

\longmapsto PE = 15kg × 10m/s × 1.5m

\longmapsto PE = 225 J

\therefore Work done by the Jim is 225 J
