Q. A spring having its force constant of 3 N/m is at a distance of 1.2 m from its equilibrium

position. Calculate (i) restoring force and (ii) potential energy stored in it.​

F=-kx

= -3*1.2

=-3.6N

The minus sign indicates it is restoring force.

potential energy= 1/2*k*x^2

=0.5*3*1.2

=1.8Nm
