Solution :-

  • Length of the string = 1m
  • Frequency (n) = 60 rpm

(1) Angular velocity

⇛ ω = 2π n

First we need to convert rpm into rps in order to do that simply divide by 60

⇛ n = 60 / 60 = 1 rps

Now let's substitute the value of n in above equation ,

⇛ ω = 2 x 3.14 x 1

⇛ ω = 6.28 rad / s

(2) Linear velocity

As per the formula ,

⇛ v = rω

⇛ v = lω

( since the length of the string is the radius of the horizontal circle )

⇛ v = 1 x 6.28

⇛ v = 6.28 m / s

(3) Centripetal Acceleration

Centripetal acceleration is given by the formula,

⇛ a = v ² / r

( since the length of the string is the radius of the horizontal circle )

⇛ a = 39.4 / 1

⇛ a = 39.4 m / s²

Answer :-

  • The angular acceleration of the stone is 6.28 rad /s
  • The linear velocity of the stone = 6.28 m /s
  • The centripetal acceleration of the stone is 39.4 m /s²
