Solution :-

Let us assume that, the profit has been divided among three investors as Rs.2x , Rs.6x and Rs.8x .

now, as we can see that,

→ 2x < 6x < 8x => Rs.8x is highest share .

given that,

→ Highest share received = Rs.4000

then,

→ 8x = 4000

→ x = Rs.500 .

therefore,

→ The overall profit amount = Share of all three = 2x + 6x + 8x = 16x = 16 * 500 = Rs.8000 (Ans.) (D)

Hence, the overall profit amount is Rs.8000 .
