The map which we use gives the perception that the circumference of the earth along a latitude is same be it Equator, Tropic of Cancer or Arctic Cricle. But the Earth being spherical in shape, the Arctic Circle actually has nearly half the circumference of that of the Tropic of Cancer (Tropic of Cancer is roughly around the center of India as we move North-South). This circumference decreases more rapidly as we move away from Equator

Hence, we get a perception of Greenland (located close to Arctic Circle) being larger in area than India, but actually, it isn't. For the same reason Africa (which is located close to Equator) appears smaller than it actually is!
