As 5ohm and another 5ohm resistance are in series hence their effective resistance=10ohm

this 10ohm and 20 ohm are in series

hence their effective resistance=10×20/10+20=20/3ohm

now as V=IR. hence I=V/R

hence current drawn through cell will be

I= 8/(20/3)= 24/20=6/5=1.2A
