Answer: Chola temples were the hub of temples for the people who want to worship their god. Their were different persons who were associated with temple and living around it like priests, sweepers, Craftsman etc.

There were different social, cultural, economic activities which were growing around temple, which also led the settlement of people around it. Craftsman contributed to the growth of these economic activities by making the sculptures and status of their devotees.
