When we say that democracy is the rule of majority , it implies that democracy is all about numbers, it gives more importance to quantity than quality. In order to form the government, political parties try to muster support, so as to get maximum support and to have numbers by their side

b. Support base includes various sections of the society like the rich, the middle class and the poor who participate in the political process by casting their votes.

c. The government so formed with highest numbers represents various social and economic groups.

d. Democracy rather has been influenced by the rich and the affluent class who impacts its decisions. The poor may constitute majority in their share of voting but lack resources and voice to influence its decisions.Political leaders so elected are generally insensitive to the problems confronting the poor.

e. Poor may have political and legal equality but are subjected to grave economic inequalities, it is the small number of rich who enjoy control over resources.
