AnsWer :

The meristematic cells divide and give rise to new cells. Every new cell has to undergo the following three phases during the process of growth:

1) Phase of cell division or cell formation or formative phase:

  • It is the first phase of growth.
  • In this phase, the meristematic cells undergo mitosis and produce new cells.
  • These new cells are thin-walled with prominent nucleus and dense cytoplasm.
  • Vacuoles are absent.
  • Addition of new cells results in slight increase in size of organs.

2) Phase of cell enlargement or Elongation phase:

  • This is the second phase of growth.
  • The daughter cells formed during elongation phase increase in size and volume.
  • Generally, the cells get elongated so there is increase in the length of root and stem.
  • Cell enlargement takes place due to synthesis of more protoplasm and large quantity of solutes.
  • There is considerable increase in size and weight of an organ or plant.

3)Phase of cell maturation and differentiation or Maturation phase:

  • It is the last phase of growth.
  • The elongated cells undergo maturation and differentiation to obtain permanent size.
  • The cells get differentiated to form parenchyma, xylem, phloem and sclerenchyma.
  • Structural and physiological differentiation enables the cells to perform particular function.

Grand period of growth (GPG):

  • The term “Grand Period of Growth” is given by a German physiologist 'Sachs' (1873).
  • Grand Period of Growth is the time interval from the formative phase to maturation phase.
  • Grand Period of Growth is observed in all cells, organs or organisms undergoing growth, thus it is of universal occurrence.
  • The rate of growth is slow during formative phase.
  • It becomes maximum in elongation phase and then during the maturation phase, the rate becomes slow and steady till it stops.
  • The total time required for the completion of three phases of growth is called the "Grand Period of Growth".

Describe the phases of growth, also add a note on 'GPG'.

ANSWER :

➠ ||✨' PHASES OF GROWTH ' ✨||

Growth is an an important characteristics of Living organism to live his life, they need growth and reproduction, so here in the term of growth we see here a term named as reproduction, Reproduction is the ability of living organisms to produce young ones similar to themselves. It is one of the most important characteristics of life. All living thing grow, reproduce and die. All plants, animals and other living organism exist because of the growth of the body and reproduction including all the characteristics of living thing. There are three phases of growth in Living organism, namely there are as follows :-- • At the stage of Infant , • at the stage of Adolescence , • At the stage of Adulthood.

INFANT : When the embryo reaches the stage where all its body parts can be identified, it is called the Foetus, The Foetus, when born, is called an Infant. The occus at the age of 0 years.

ADOLESCENT : Stage of transition between childhood and Adulthood ; it is marked by Rapid physical and Mental development. This mainly occus at the age of 11-13 years.

ADULTHOOD : This is a stage at which adults use to loose their old memories, and they use of die at this stage. This mainly Occurs at the age of 80-85 years.

(NOTE :--- Sometimes the age of death may not be decided clearly as this depend on the Food habits and following the Routine / time table. )
