  • let d be the total distance.

<font color = r>

d  =  \frac{1}{3} d   \:  + 10  \:  +  \frac{1}{6} d

 \frac{6}{6} d =  \frac{2}{6} d   \:  +  \frac{60}{6}  +  \frac{1}{6} d

6d = 2d \:  + 60  \:  + d

6d \:  =  \: 3d \:  + 60

3d \:  = 60

d \:  =  \frac{60}{3}  = 20

<font color = red >

  • therefore total distance = 20

✪ Question:

☞ During a camping trip, a group went one -third of the total distance by boat, 10km by foot and One-sixth of it by riding horses. Find the total distance of the trip.

To Find:

☯ The total distance of the trip.

✪ Given:

✧Distance traveled by the group with different medium :-

✧Let the total distance be x .

  • Distance Covered by Boat = 10km

  • Distance covered by Boat = \sf{\dfrac{1}{3}x}

  • Distance covered by riding horses = \sf{\dfrac{1}{6}x}

✪ Concept:

✧ By solving the equation linearly ,we can find the total distance of the trip.

✪ ATQ:

Total distance = distance traveled by boat + Distance covered By foot + distance traveled by riding horses.

{\boxed{\mathtt{\dfrac{1}{3}x + 10 + \dfrac{1}{6}x} = x}}

✪ Solution:

Given Equation:

\sf{\dfrac{1}{3}x + 10 + \dfrac{1}{6}x = x}

By solving it, we get:-

\sf{\Rightarrow \dfrac{2x + 60 + 2}{6} = x}

\sf{\Rightarrow \dfrac{2x + 61}{6} = x}

\sf{\Rightarrow 2x + 61 = x \times 6}

\sf{\Rightarrow 3x + 60 = 6x}

\sf{\Rightarrow 3x + 60 = 6x}

\sf{\Rightarrow 60 = 6x - 3x}

\sf{\Rightarrow 60 = 3x}

\sf{\Rightarrow \dfrac{\cancel{60}}{\cancel{3}} = x}

\sf{\Rightarrow 20\:km = x}

Hence , the total distance covered is 20 km.

Verification:

Given equation :

\sf{\dfrac{1}{3}x + 10 + \dfrac{1}{6}x = x}

Putting the value in the equation..

\sf{\Rightarrow \dfrac{2 \times 20 + 60 + 20}{6} = 20}

\sf{\Rightarrow \dfrac{40 + 60 + 20}{6} = 20}

\sf{\Rightarrow \dfrac{120}{6} = 20}

\sf{\Rightarrow \dfrac{\cancel{120}}{\cancel{6}} = 20}

\sf{\Rightarrow 20 = 20}

\boxed{Verified : \because RHS = LHS}
