Q. Explain the concept of Lok Adalats? Why are they called People's courts? ​

It is called lok adalat because people elect their own representatives.These representatives speak for the people by discussing about social issues and answer to the needs of people.

they called people's courts because

Lok adalats are established for the purpose of revolving disputes by litigants themselves in amicable manner without going through prolonged and expensive court procedures for many years.

The concept of Lok Adalat is to provide friendly environment to both parties of a particular case, to discuss themselves under the supervision of authorised officer of court and settle their claim amicably .

In the said, Lok Adalat proceeding there is no judicial intervention and it is for the parties to settle their disputes and hence this system is called people's court.
