Q - Explain the formation of covalent bonds between atoms of hydrogen and atoms of chlorine to form HCI molecule. Write any two properties of covalent substances.

Answer:

hydrogen and chlorine both are defect of 1 electron and so they share their 1 electron and form single covalent bond to become stable and form HCl.But Cl because of having high electronegativity it attracts the electron and develops slight - charge and H develops slight +charge and so it is called polar covalent compound.

1.have low boiling and melting point

2. generally exist as liquid and gases
