- Guttation can be frequently seen when atmosphere is humid, transpiration is low and active absorption of water is more.
- This active absorption of water develops pressure in root, i.e. root pressure.
- Guttation is often observed early in the morning when excess of water collects in the form of droplets.
- These droplets are formed at the special openings of veins near the tip of grass blades and leaves of many herbaceous plants.
- In ferns, guttation occurs through special glands called hydathodes.
- Water exuded by guttation contains salts.
