Weaving is taking threads and fibers and making a cloth out of them. You are usually using some kind of a loom. The most common form of knitting uses two or more needles and manipulating the yarn with the needles to make a fabric of sorts.

Weaving

Weaving is the process of interlocking two sets of yarns at right angle to each other to form a fabric.

Two strands of yarn are woven together by placing them perpendicular to each other. Weaving is done on the looms. If looms are manually operated they are called Handlooms and if these are power operated then they are called powerlooms.

Lengthwise yarn is called wrap and crosswise yarn is called weft. Crosswise thread is attached to the shuttle which moves the thread forward and backward. In this way fabrics with criss-cross pattern obtained during weaving.

Knitting

This is a very common process. You may have seen your mother or grandmother knitting sweater, socks, caps, etc from wool. Knitting is usually done with a single yarn with the help of kinetic needles. In knitting, the yarn is inteewound in a series of interconnected loops. Knitting can be done either by hands or by machines. Knitting is mostly done for making woolen clothes. This is a very simple process that does not require too many machines, or heavy set-ups.
