We know that,

area \:  of \:  an \:  equilateral \:  triangle \:  =  \frac{ \sqrt{3} }{4}  {a}^{2}  \\  =  \frac{ \sqrt{3} }{4}  \times 16 \times 16  \: {cm}^{2}  \\  =  \sqrt{3}  \times 16 \times 4 \:  {cm}^{2}  \\  = 110.851 \:  {cm}^{2}
