The correct answer  for (A) is 4 and for (B) is 6  .

Explanation :

  • Since we know that the nearest perfect square to 200 is 196 , which is the square of 14 .
  • So now we have to find a number which when subtracted from 200 gives 196 .
  • So , let the required  number be = a

        ∴200-a = 196

          ⇒ a = 200 - 196

                 = 4

Hence ,  4 is the smallest number which when when subtracted from 200 makes it a perfect square .

  • Similarly the nearest perfect square to 175 is 169 , which is the square of 13 .
  • Here again let the required number be = b .

     ∴ 175 - b = 169

       ⇒ b = 175 - 169

               = 6 .

Hence , 6 is the smallest number which when subtracted from 175 makes it a perfect square ,
