Heredity is the passing on of traits from parents to their offspring, either through asexual reproduction or sexual reproduction. The offspring cells or organisms acquire the genetic information of their parents. An example of heredity is the likelihood that you will have blue eyes if the trait is already in the parental generation. The segregation of chromosomes and their alleles into the daughter cells will allow the daughter cells to exhibit some characteristics common to that of their parents.
