Q. How two resistors, with resistances Ry and Rz respectively are to be connected to a battery of

HEY MATE...HERE'S YOUR ANSWER...!!

To get the minimum electrical power being consumed you have to connect both the resistors Ry and Rz in series...

Because, we know that when two or more resistors are connected in parallel the equivalent resistance is minimum and when the two or more resistors are connected in series the equivalent resistance is maximum...

Here, to get the mininmum electrical power being consumed we have to block the electric current as much as we can. Therefore, we need the resistors to be connected in series so the blockage of elecrical current is maximum and the electrical current flowing through the wire is minimum and thus the electrical power consumed is minimum.
