Answer :-

a = 1

Solution:-

p( x ) = ax² - 3( a - 1 )x - 1

Given

1 is the zeroes of the polynomial p( x )

We know that,

zero of the polynomial is the value of x that will be equal to 0 when it is substituted in the polynomial

Therefore, p( 1 ) = 0

==> a( 1 )² - 3( a - 1 )( 1 ) - 1 = 0

==> a( 1 ) - 3( a - 1 ) - 1 = 0

==> a - 3a + 3 - 1 = 0

==> - 2a +2 = 0

==> - 2a = - 2

==> a = - 2 / - 2

==> a = 1

Therefore the value of a is 1.
