We are given the I.E. of hydrogen atom…if not it can be calculated by

E=13.6*z^2/n^2 ev

For hydrogen z i.e. atomic no. is 1 as well as n i.e. n = excitation state is also 1

But for He+’s case z =2 and n=1

Putting that in formula we will get

13.6*2^2/1

54.4eV Ans.
