Explanation:

We Have :-

Four 60 W electric bulbs are lighted for 2 hours

Two 100 W bulbs are lighted for 4 hours

To Find :-

Energy consumed in the house for 30 day

Calculate the electricity bill if it is charged as 5.60 per kWh.

Formula Used :-

Energy = Power × Time

Solution :-

For 60 W bulbs :-

Power = 60 W

Time = 2 hours

Energy = 60 × 2

= 120 Wh

There are 4 bulbs :-

120 × 4

480 Wh

Day :-

1 Day = 480 Wh

30 Days = 480 × 30

= 14400 Wh

Convert to kWh :-

1000 Wh = 1 kWh

14400 Wh = 14400 / 1000

= 14.4 kWh

For 100 W bulbs :-

Power = 100 W

Time = 4 hours

Energy = 100 × 4

= 400 Wh

There are 2 bulbs :-

400 × 2

800 Wh

Day :-

1 Day = 800 Wh

30 Days = 800 × 30

= 24000 Wh

Convert to kWh :-

1000 Wh = 1 kWh

24000 Wh = 24000 / 1000

= 24 kWh

Total Energy used :-

14.4 + 24

38.4 kWh

Bill :-

1 kWh = Rs 5.60

38.4 kWh = Rs 5.60 × 38.4

= Rs 215.04
