Q. In the electrolysis of water:
(i) Name the gas collected at the cathode and anode respectively.
(ii) Why the volume of one gas, collected at one electrode is double than that at the other ? Name this gas
(iii) How will you test the evolved gases?​

i) The gas collected at cathode is is Hydrogen and gas that collated on anode is Oxygen.

ii) volume of hydrogen gas is double that of oxygen because water molecules are made in the proportion of 2 : 1. i.e. 2 atoms of hydrogen and 1 atom of oxygen.

iii) When we put a burning candle near the hydrogen gas it will burn with pop sound.
