(a) Cycle is not the form of league-type tournament.
In a league tournament, each team gets to play against all participating teams. Sometimes when the number of teams is high and it is practically not possible to conduct so many matches then the teams are divided into groups. Each team in a group gets to play against all teams in the same group. Then the group leaders are selected and promoted to the next rounds.
In a single league tournament, one round is league type and the other rounds are not. In a double league tournament, two rounds are league. Round Robin is another name for the league tournament.
