Q:- It is found that 6.50 g of metal combinewith oxygen to form 35.60g of metal oxide. Calculate the percentage of metal and oxygen in the compound?

Answer:

in 35.6 g of metal oxide, mass of metal is 16.5 g, thus mass oxygen is 35.6 -- 16.5 = 19.1. now the %age oxygen is 19.1/35.6*100=53.6% and %age of metal is 100--53.6=46.4
