1. The Central Processing unit (C.P.U.) is considered as the 'brain of the computer'.

2.With Microsoft NotePad on the screen, pressing the ALT key takes you into the menu Bar. You can move along the menu bar by use of the left and right CURSOR Keys. Alternatively you can use the shortcut keys described after the menu name below.

When you have selected your menu choice, you can select the option required by use of the UP and DOWN Cursor keys and when Thunder announces your choice, press the RETURN/ENTER key and your selection will be activated.

FILE (ALT+F) - This is where you can "Open, Close, Save and Print" files.

EDIT (ALT+E) - This is where you can "Cut, Copy, and Paste" characters, words in your documents.

Format (ALT+O) - This is where you can change the presentation of your document.

VIEW (ALT+V) - This is where you can view and change "Status Bar".

HELP (ALT+H) - This is where you will find the Microsoft Help System.

When you have finished with menus, you can either press the ALT key again or, press the ESCAPE Key which is the top left-hand key of your keyboard.

3. A desktop computer is a personal computer designed for regular use at a single location on or near a desk or table due to its size and power requirements.

4. Notepad is a simple text editor for Microsoft Windows and a basic text-editing program which enables computer users to create documents. It was first released as a mouse-based MS-DOS program in 1983, and has been included in all versions of Microsoft Windows since Windows 1.0 in 1985.
