The term "submultiple" refers to those variations of an SI unit which are smaller in magnitude than the base unit itself, while the variations whose magnitude is greater than the base unit are called "multiples".

Firstly, the SI unit of volume is Litre ($l$).

So, the submultiples of Litre, and their respective values in terms of SI unit, are :-

1. Decilitre ($dl$)     -     tenth part of a Litre
2. Centilitre ($cl$)    -    hundredth part of a Litre
3. Millilitre ($ml$)     -    thousandth part of a Litre

Their value in terms of SI system( litre) are:

1 millilitre= 0.001 litre

1 centilitre= 0.01 litre

1 decilitre= 0.1 litre
