Let the numerator be 'x'

Case 1 ----

Denominator is 1 less than 3 times of numerator = x/(3x-1)

Case 2-----

If 13 is added to numerator and 8 is added to the denominator then fraction becomes equal to 1.

           

             (x+13) / (3x-1+8) = 1

             (x+13) / (3x+7) = 1

             (x+13) = (3x+7)

               -2x = -6

                  x = 3  

put this x value to   x/(3x-1)

                 3/[3(3) - 1]

    = 3/8 is your original fraction
