Q.Read the passage and write the answer of
the questions asked below.

In a science lab, two compounds A and B were taken for reaction. Both were
having same functional group which was one Hydrogen atom deficient of
water molecule. In compound A the functional group was attached to alkyl
group where as in compound B it was attached to benzene ring. When A on
treatment with carboxylic acid gave Compound C. Compound B on treatment
with Nitric acid gave Compound D in presence of conc. Sulphuric acid.

1.What is the functional group that is common in both compounds A and B?
2.Name the compound C.
3.Name the compound D.
4.What will be the product when compound A will be on oxidation?
5.What will be the product when compound B will be on oxidation?
