(ii) Solution C (i.e. strong alkali) gives a gelatinous white precipitate with zinc sulphate solution. The precipitate disappears when excess of this solution is added.

Equation:-

ZnSO4 + 2NaOH ---> Na2SO4 + Zn(OH)2

Zn(OH)2 is the gelatinous white precipitate.

(iii) Examples of weak alkali are ammonium hydroxide and calcium hydroxide.
