Let O be the center point

AO is the distance from tangent point A to center O. AO=10cm

let AP be the tangent drawn from point A.

AP=8cm[given]

we have to find OP(radius of the circle)

Now, AOP is an right angled triangle

(AO)^2=(AP)^2+(OP)^2

(10)^2=(8)^2+(OP)^2

(OP)^2=100-64=36

then, OP=6cm

Now, OP is the radius

then, diameter=2×6=12cm

It may be useful!
