Q. The position of an object moving along x-axis is given by x= a + bt2 where a=8.5m, b=2.5m/s2 and t is measured in seconds. What is its velocity at t=0s and t=2.0s. What is the average velocity b/w t=2.0s and t= 4.0s ?

x = a+bt2velocity at any instant of time is given by:v = dxdtv = 2btat t  = 0v = 0at t = 2v = 2×2.5×2 = 10 m/sdistance travelled between 2 to 4 seconds is given bys = b(16-4) = 12b = 12×2.5 = 30mtime taken = 4-2 = 2 saverage velocity = net distance travelled / time taken = 30/2 = 15 m/s
