Q. what do you observe when...?
1- Ferrous sulphate is heated.
2- Lead nitrate is heated.
3- Carbon dioxide gas is passed through lime water.
4- Calcium carbonate is heated.

Answer:

1.It decomposes into ferric oxide, sulphur dioxide and sulphur trioxide. ferric sulphate is green in colour it first loses water of crystallization and turns white and on further heating it turns brown(due to ferric oxide)

2.Lead nitrate decomposes into lead oxide, nitrogen dioxide and oxygen. Brown fumes are produced, hence the product is brown.

3.The lime water turns milky.

4.It decomposes into calcium oxide carbon dioxide.

5.sodium chloride and barium sulphate is formed, barium sulphate is white precipitate.
