As H2SO4 or Sulpuric acid is a strong dehydrating agent ethanol gets dehydrated and forms ethene gas. Catalyst is a substance that increases the rate of a chemical reaction without being consumed in the process. The water or H2O produced from the reaction gets mixed with sulphuric acid (H2SO4) and it gets diluted.
