The flower is a modified shoot consisting of 4 types of whorls, each whorl consisting of modified leaves
The whorls and their members are enlisted from outer side ti inner side as follows-
Corolla - Members of whorl are called Petals
Androecium - Members of whorl are called Stamens
Gynoecium - Members of whorl are called Carpels
The number of members in each whorl differs from flower to flower.
All these members are born on swollen tip of shoot which can be felt at the tip of stalk of flower ( called Pedicel ) is called Thalamus
In some flowers, at the base of pedicel where it is attached to the main stem or branch, a small, green modified leaf may be present called Bract.
