Here is ur answer...

SOUND WAVE is called as longitudinal wave

Because, the particles bg which the sound transports..vibrates parallel to the direction of the sound wave

Sound waves are called longitudinal waves because the wave particles of sound travel by vibrating parallel to the particles of the medium in which the sound travels (such as air or any other fluid medium).

Sound waves move parallel to the medium in the direction of propagation. Longitudinal waves propagate in the similar way.
