--The WW1 was more of a conflict for protecting the territories of the major colonial powers, and less of an endeavour to protect democracy, as projected by the Allies at that time.
--The industrial revolution had made possible, the manufacturing of artillery on such a large scale. This was the first war to use tanks and submarines, with efficiency, which were only possible due to the industrial advancement of the countries.
--Also, soldiers required more supplies, which required an extensive support network of people behind the lines to keep them fed and armed.
--Due to the requirements of the war, the steel and textile industry received a major boost throughout the world, which lead to various breakthroughs in the production process, like the assembly line.
--WW1 was unprecedented in the loss of life and property it caused, which left a scorching mark on the face of history, along with sowing the seeds of WW2 during its climax.
