Around the Fovea we have Cones. Cones are special because without them we would not be able to see colour. The three types of cones helps us to see Red, Green and Blue. Hence why tv used to have RGB colour system powering it.
We also have Rods in our eyes that are the most sensitive to light. They are what give us night vision. However they only see in black and white. This is why at night things take on a more monochrome appearance or a very light blue colour.
