ANSWER

There are two types of reproduction.

1.) Asexual reproduction :-

  • In this the offspring arises from a single parent.

  • Definition- The mode of reproduction in which only single parent is involved to produce new organisms.

  • It does not use special cells known as 'sex cells'.

  • It is the simplest method of reproduction.

  • Some examples - Binary fission in Amoeba, regeneration in Planaria, fragmentation in Spirogyra etc.

2.) Sexual reproduction

  • In this the offspring arises from two parents.

  • Definition- The mode of reproduction in which two parents are involved to produce a new organism.

  • Male sex cells (male gametes) and female sex cells (female gametes) are needed.

  • In this sex cells of one parent fuses with sex cells of the other parent this leads to the formation of a new cell known as 'Zygote'.

  • Some examples- Human, fish , hens , cats , dogs , horses etc reproduce by this method.

  • Most of the flowering plants also reproduce by this method.
