Given :  a line which makes an angle of pi/3 with negative direction of y-axis.

To Find : Slope of line

Solution:

negative direction of y-axis.  = 270°  angle with x axis

pi/3 = 60° angle  with  negative direction of y-axis.

Generally angles are measured anticlockwise in x - y

Hence total angle = 270° + 60° = 330°

Slope  = tan 330°

= - tan30°

= - 1/√3

line which makes an angle of pi/3 with negative direction of y-axis. is - 1/√3

in any case if  angle to be measured clock wise

then angle = 270° - 60° = 210°

slope = tan 210°  =  1/√3
