Explanation:

We have given two Equations 4x+y= 35 & x+4y= 20.We can solve it in various ways here we solve it through elimination method and substitution method.

By elimination method

➙4x+y= 35------(×1)

➙x+4y=20-------(×4)

New Equation obtained

➙4x+y=35

➙4x+16y=80

➙(-)(-)\:(-)(−)(−)(−)

___________

-15y= -45

15y=45

y= 45÷15=3

y=3

Put y's value into this equation

➙4x+y=35

➙4x+3=35

➙4x=35-3=32

➙4x=32

➙x= 32÷4=8

➙x=8

Hence, x = 8 & y= 3

Check:

➙4x+y=35

Taking LHS

➙4(8)+3

➙32+3=35

Since,LHS = RHS(verified)

By substitution method

➙4x+y=35

x= (35-y)÷4------(1)

➙x+4y=20

From equation 1

➙35-y/4+4y=20

➙35-y+16y/4=20

➙35+15y= 80[20×4]

➙15y= 80-35

➙15y=45

➙y= 45÷15

➙y=3

Put y's value into equation 1

➙x= 35-y÷4

➙x= 35-3/4

➙x= 32/4

➙x=8
