Given:

Q₁ = 62

Q₃ = 86

Coefficient of skewness = 0.5

To find:

Median of the given data

Calculation:

Bowley’s coefficient of skewness is given by the formula

 Coefficient of skewness = (Q₃+Q₁-2M)/(Q₃-Q₁)

By substituting the given values in the above formula

=> Coefficient of skewness = (Q₃+Q₁-2M)/(Q₃-Q₁)

=> 0.5 = (86+62-2M)/(86-62)

=> 0.5 = (148-2M)/24

=> 148-2M = 12

=> 2M = 148-12

=> 2M = 136

=> M = 68

The median of the given data is 68
