theta = 17/8. Csc theta = 1/ sin theta

This gives sin theta = 1/csc theta= 1/(17/8)=8/17

In trigonometry, sin theta=opposite side/hypotenuse.

By the Pythagorean theorem, a^2+b^2=c^2, where a and b are sides and c is the hypotenuse.

Letting a=8 and c=17, we have b^2=c^2-a^2

b^2=(17)^2-(8)^2

b^2=289–64=225; b=15

This is the adjacent side to theta, giving cos theta=15/17

Since tan theta = sin theta/cos theta , tan theta = (8/17)/(15/17)=8/15

cot theta = 1/tan theta = 1/(8/15)= 15/8. ANS.
