As the linear momentum is always conserved.

m₁u₁ +m₂u₂ =( m₁+m₂)v
⇒80×10 +60×20 = (80+60)v
⇒140v = 2000
⇒v = 14.3 m/s

Answer:

Explanation:

Given :-

m₁ = 80 kg

u₁ = 10 m/s

m₂ = 60 kg

u₂ = 20 m/s

To Find :-

Velocity after collision.

Formula to be used :-

m₁u₁ +m₂u₂ =( m₁+m₂)v

Solution :-

Putting all the values, we get

m₁u₁ + m₂u₂ =( m₁ + m₂)v

⇒ 80×10 + 60 × 20 = (80 + 60)v

⇒ 140v = 2000

⇒ v = 14.3 m/s

Hence, velocity after collision is 14.3 m/s.
