Explanation:

Force = –1250N

Explanation:

Given:

Mass of hammer is 0.5 kg.

Velocity is 50 ms-¹.

Time is 0.02 seconds.

To Find:

Force of the nail on the hammer

Formula to be used:

F = mass × acceleration

Solution: Here we have

m = 0.5

t = 0.02

v = 50 ms-¹

u = 0

As we know that

Acceleration = (v – u/t)

Now put the values on formula

⟹ F = ma

⟹ m(v – u/t)

⟹ 0.5(0 – 50/0.02)

⟹ 0.5 (–50/0.02)

⟹ 0.5 × –2500

⟹ –1250N

Hence the force of the nail on the hammer is –1250 N.
