Q1. A housewife wanted her home to be whitewashed. She brought 12 KG of quicklime from the market and dissolved it in 15 litres of water. On adding lime to water she noticed that the water started boiling even when it was not being heated . Give reasons for the observation. Write the corresponding balance equation with symbols and name the product formed.

Calcium oxide ract vigorously with water to produce slaked lime(calcium hydroxide) releasing a large amount of heat.
