Answer:

Answer :-

Change in momentum of the ball is -6 kg m/s .

Explanation :-

We have :-

→ Mass of the ball (m) = 150 g = 0.15 kg

→ Initial velocity (u) = 20 m/s

→ The ball rebounces with same velocity.

To find :-

→ Change in momentum .

________________________________

Initially the ball was moving in a certain direction. After hitting the wall, the ball rebounces in the opposite direction. So, final velocity of the ball (v) will be -20 m/s .

Initial momentum of the ball :-

= Mass × Initial velocity

= m × u

= 0.15 × 20

= 3 kg m/s

Final momentum of the ball :-

= Mass × Final velocity

= m × v

= 0.15 × (-20)

= -3 kg m/s

Change in momentum :-

= Final momentum - Initial momentum

= (-3 - 3) kg m/s

= -6 kg m/s
