Q1. A person has money to buy 25 cycles worth Rs 500 each. How many cycles he will be able to buy if each cycle is costing Rs. 125 more?

Q2. If x and y vary inversely as each other and x= 30, find y when constant of variation is 900.

Answer:

total money a person has = 25×500= Rs 12500

price of each cycle if Rs 125 is increased = 500+125 =Rs 625

no. of cycles he can buy = 12500/625 = 20 cycles

no. of cycles = 25 - y

now,  500 x 25 = 625 x y

or,       y = 500 x 25

                     625

or,       y = 500 x 25 1

                      625 25

or,       y = 500 20

                   25 1

therefore, y = 20 cycles

so he will be able to buy 25 cycles
